Purpose

The MSIM Emerging Markets Debt Team seeks a Trader in Singapore responsible for achieving best trade execution across markets. Candidates should have a passion for Emerging markets, strong communication and quantitative skills, and proven academic aptitude. The role requires collaboration within a team spread across Boston, London, and Singapore.

The position demands a solid understanding of complex instruments such as Bonds, FX, Futures, Equities, Interest Rate Swaps, Credit Default Swaps, Commodities, Total Return Swaps, Options, and other derivatives.

Training & Career Development

New hires receive initial training and are encouraged to continue learning through formal and informal sessions covering technical and qualitative topics. The training aims to convey the team’s investment philosophy and expectations. Traders are encouraged to pursue the CFA charter, enhance programming skills, and deepen their market knowledge.

Responsibilities
  1. Executing trades for the Emerging Markets Debt Team
  2. Monitoring financial markets and news
  3. Providing instrument recommendations
  4. Conducting research on instruments, tax implications, and regulations for various countries
  5. Participating in opening new markets with custodians
  6. Collaborating with compliance, operations, and other teams to streamline processes
  7. Applying programming skills to automate tasks
Qualifications
  • Proactive, independent thinker willing to improve processes
  • Bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, or other programming languages is preferred
  • Organized and detail-oriented
  • Familiarity with Aladdin’s Portfolio Management System is a plus
  • Efficient, able to prioritize and work under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and teamwork ability
  • Quantitative aptitude and experience with large data sets
  • Flexible work hours to accommodate global market dynamics
  • Understanding of financial concepts through coursework or experience
  • Pursuit of CFA or similar qualification is a plus
  • Foreign language skills are advantageous
