Job Description

The Head of Engineering has overall responsibility for all technical decisions for solution delivery and ongoing management. As the Head of Engineering, you will manage the Engineering, Full-stack, Front-End, and Platform Development Teams, working as part of a broader group of small, interdisciplinary teams—both internally and externally—to build products and services that our customers love. Your team comprises the builders in our multidisciplinary squads and will deliver through a lean approach that evolves as our needs change and our organisation matures. You will lead by example with a mindset of Building, Learning, and rapidly Adapting. Your ultimate success depends on your ability to guide your team and peers while influencing decision-makers to build trust and secure long-term buy-in.

Responsibilities
Strategy
  • Oversee all aspects of the Engineering organisation, including technical strategy, technology architecture, best practices, and technology stacks.
  • Define and manage the technology landscape and blueprint for the entire solution stack. Work closely with lead engineers and architects to co-own the architecture and component strategy.
  • Actively engage in sprint planning, delivery, and release management, working collaboratively with Product and UX/CX teams.
  • Lead the design and architecture of a platform that integrates with the evolving FinTech and partner ecosystem.
  • Build quality assurance and data protection processes.
People and Talent
  • Lead recruitment and staffing for engineering and technology teams.
  • Nurture and develop a strong local talent pipeline for future bench strength and continuity.
  • Represent the voice of the engineering team in projects and transformation agendas.
  • Lead by example and foster a culture grounded in strong values and collaboration.
  • Set the right tone and expectations for the broader digital bank, working closely with risk and control teams.
Risk Management
  • Identify risks and opportunities for all planned and in-flight projects.
Governance
  • Reinforce a strong risk and control culture while further strengthening the control environment.
  • Minimise operational loss and audit failures; proactively address arising issues and manage forward-looking risks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in building large-scale digital services in high-growth, fast-paced environments, including 5+ years in solution architecture and leading engineering teams for digital product development and complex system integration projects.
  • A degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Information Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering).
  • Experience in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
  • Proven ability to manage internal and partner stakeholders for new ventures.
  • Strong market awareness, with the ability to evaluate emerging technologies and identify innovation opportunities or obstacles.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with service-based and microservices architectures.
  • Solid understanding of application security and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps practices and cloud infrastructure services.
