The Opportunity

Based in Singapore, you will be an integral part of the Private Capital team, focusing on supporting direct investments and opportunities in Japan and South Korea. You will play a key role in supporting senior investment professionals in analyzing potential investment opportunities and executing transactions in the Asia Pacific region, particularly in Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. Additionally, you will monitor the performance of existing investments and collaborate with portfolio company management teams to craft strategies and implement value-enhancing initiatives. The Investment Associate will contribute to a team culture where multiple investment groups collaborate effectively across markets.

Who you’ll work with

You will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse team of professionals, including colleagues based in Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Toronto, and London, as well as external professionals such as management teams, investment bankers, consultants, board directors, and lawyers.

What you’ll do

You will work with small deal teams to evaluate potential investments and determine their attractiveness as investment opportunities. Your responsibilities include conducting industry and company research, building sophisticated financial models, managing third-party advisors, analyzing due diligence reports, arranging debt financing, reviewing legal documentation, and preparing materials for the Investment Committee.

Post-transaction, you will stay involved with the business, potentially attending board meetings as an observer, and work with management to implement value-enhancing initiatives such as acquisitions, debt refinancing, budgeting, and strategic projects.

What you’ll need
  • An undergraduate or graduate degree with a strong academic record from a top-tier university. CFA and/or other relevant designations are considered assets.
  • 4 to 6 years of related experience, ideally in investment banking, private equity, principal investing, equity research, management consulting, or transaction advisory.
  • Proficiency in European languages and the ability to build relationships with the Private Capital team in London.
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in building three-statement financial models, developing forecasts, and valuations.
  • Experience in the investment process, including due diligence.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with outstanding presentation abilities.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, capable of performing in-depth critical analysis.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Exposure to international markets.
  • Ability to build relationships and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, curious, and committed to high integrity.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
