Job Coach @ Towner Gardens School

Responsibilities
  1. Work closely with teachers and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) to prepare and assess students' readiness for job attachments and placements.
  2. Identify and support students in developing confidence and interest in employment before job attachments.
  3. Source and arrange job attachment opportunities in school-based, community-based, and industrial settings.
  4. Provide job matching for students.
  5. Analyze and evaluate the suitability of job sites.
  6. Prepare students for job attachments.
  7. Negotiate employment terms with employers post-attachment if applicable.
  8. Provide ongoing support and guidance to students during their jobs.
  9. Collaborate with families, teachers, community partners, and employers to support students during job attachments and readiness.
  10. Work with school staff to support and improve vocational curricula and resources.
  11. Contribute to and support students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Individual Transition Plan (ITP). Conduct training and sharing sessions with staff on trends and strategies for supporting students at worksites.
  12. Develop training plans and materials for in-house training to prepare students for work, including accommodations such as travel training, interview skills, and grooming, in collaboration with staff.
  13. Conduct pre- and post-vocational assessments of students.
  14. Maintain reports and records related to attachments and interviews.
  15. Plan, execute, and monitor student attachments, including activities like learning journeys and job shadowing.
  16. Coordinate with Transition Planning Committee (TPC) and post-school agencies to ensure smooth transition into School-to-Work programs and post-school services, including EDC and MATM processes.
  17. Support school programs to enrich students' holistic learning experiences.
  18. Engage and communicate with students' caregivers, case workers, and employers to support and sustain work attachment experiences.
  19. Collaborate with other departments to provide holistic support, including caregiver support, self-advocacy, peer support, socio-recreational activities, and sharing student success stories to empower and engage students.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or Degree in any discipline with at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
