A leading company in the energy sector is seeking an experienced Project Manager with expertise in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) systems. This role involves managing distributed energy projects from feasibility studies to commissioning. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in CHP systems, proven project leadership, and regulatory knowledge. Key responsibilities include project planning, stakeholder engagement, and performance tracking. Preferred certifications include PMP and CEM.
Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with deep expertise in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) systems. This role is responsible for the end-to-end management of distributed energy projects, including feasibility studies, design, installation, commissioning, and compliance. The ideal candidate has a strong technical foundation in CHP systems and distributed generation technologies, paired with proven project leadership and regulatory knowledge.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution
Lead the full lifecycle of CHP and LNG projects from concept through commissioning.
Define project scope, deliverables, schedules, budgets, and milestones.
Oversee contractor selection, engineering design, procurement, and on-site construction.
Manage multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, civil, controls).
️ CHP & Local Generation Systems
Evaluate and select appropriate CHP technologies: microturbines, gas engines, fuel cells, etc.
Design integrated systems for electrical and thermal load sharing across facilities.
Assess energy generation models including solar PV, biomass, and other decentralized energy sources.
Ensure systems are optimized for efficiency, resilience, and emissions reduction.
️ Regulatory Compliance & Grid Integration
Liaise with utilities and regulators for grid connection, power export, and tariff arrangements.
Manage permits, compliance with building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
Stay current with evolving local energy policies and incentive programs.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the main point of contact with clients, utility partners, local governments, and community stakeholders.
Communicate technical and financial details clearly to non-technical audiences.
Deliver presentations, status reports, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
Performance Tracking & Optimization
Track project KPIs including energy savings, uptime, cost performance, and CO₂ reduction.
Develop O&M strategies and long-term service agreements for CHP systems.
Provide post-commissioning support and system performance tuning.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Energy Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of project management experience in the energy or utilities sector.
Proven experience with CHP and distributed energy systems.
️ Technical Skills
In-depth knowledge of CHP system components, sizing, and integration.
Familiarity with SCADA, BMS, and energy monitoring platforms.
Proficiency in project planning tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, energy modeling tools).
Soft Skills
Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Ability to manage complex timelines, budgets, and multiple stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Preferred Certifications:
PMP (Project Management Professional)
CEM (Certified Energy Manager)
GBCI or LEED certification
Experience with ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems
