Job Responsibilities
- Ensure all company-owned and managed vessels operate in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.
- Ensure effective operation and reporting of the Vessel Planned Maintenance System in accordance with the Company’s Quality and Safety Management System.
- Stay informed of the latest rules and regulations in the marine industry and implement them; maintain the classification status of vessels in collaboration with the Ship Tech Superintendent.
- Guide the Ship Tech Superintendent as required and provide technical advice and assistance to ensure vessels meet client standards and criteria.
- Regularly inspect vessels, compile reports on equipment, machinery, and structure, and oversee docking repairs, ensuring timely delivery of vessels.
- Assist both the commercial and Marine departments with technical matters.
- Advise crew members and technical superintendents on ship maintenance.
- Visit vessels regularly, with a minimum of two visits per ship per year.
- Check and record onboard spare parts and store inventories, ensuring proper identification, storage, and maintenance.
- Process spare parts requisitions and monitor the supply of spares for proper maintenance and safe operation.
- Review purchase requisitions for accuracy and propose suppliers to the Procurement Department.
- Ensure the adherence to the Enhanced SEEMP and obtain annual approval from class.
- Ensure fleet compliance with CII regulations and achieve a fuel efficiency grade of C or higher.
- Serve as Back-up TSI when required.
Qualifications
- Class one certificate of competency as Chief Engineer – motor STCW95 or Naval Architect qualifications.
- Minimum of 20+ years of shipping experience, including at least 7 years as Chief Engineer and 3 years as Superintendent or above.
- Experience in sailing, managing, and handling Oil/Chemical tankers.
- Strong management skills and attentiveness to team members.
- Knowledge of shipbuilding, operation, and technical aspects.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and in multicultural environments.
- Fluency in English.
- Ability to travel without restrictions.
