Job description:
Responsibilities:
- Mentor a team of engineers in Hull Outfitting/Accommodation Outfitting design to carry out Hull outfitting arrangement, related calculations, procurement, detail design, bill of material and 3D modeling for a tender or ongoing projects.
- Prepare/review technical specifications for Hull outfitting and accommodation outfitting equipment and material procurement and perform technical evaluation of vendor's bid.
- Support other in-house departments and external parties, where required, by providing specialist technical advice and information.
- Assist in the development of new designs and design concepts.
- Design, prepare and review layout in accordance with building specification, rules, and regulations for tender, class and owner's approval and construction.
- Perform/review equipment foundation design
- Layout design - fire, safety, watertight integrity, lifesaving, escapes, mooring, towing, anchoring, accommodation in accordance with building specification, class/statutory rules.
- Manage and check calculation/ design /proposal of external design consultants.
- Manage and check technical information of external suppliers of equipment and systems and coordinate/cooperate with engineers from other trades in the organization.
- To check drawings/documents and material list and ensure that they conform to contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification and Statutory Rules/Regulations.
- Liaise with ship owners and surveyors.
- To ensure equipment specification, installation control document and interface design specification are properly maintained, disseminated, and use for preparation of design activities.
- Participate in tests and trials, where required.
- To advise supervisor on work progress/status and shortcomings on technical issues on project under his charge.
- Keep abreast with current technological developments and products.
- Keep abreast with Classifications Rules, military and industrial standards relevant to design activities.
Requirements:
- Degree in Naval Architecture/ Marine Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized University
- 7 to 10 years' experience in engineering design in Marine/Offshore/Oil & Gas industry or Classifications Societies.
- Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules, and Regulations.
- Possess Engineering Design and Project Management skills
- Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills to manage assigned team members and other stakeholders
- Strong experience in Naval architecture, Structure, Outfitting, Accommodation design
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Aveva Marine, NAPA, Microsoft office, Rhino 3D, CFD software knowledge
- High proficiency in 3D modeling skills using 3D CAD software will be an advantage.
