Job description

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced and process-driven HR Assistant Manager with a strong focus on global payroll, including direct APAC regional support. This role is responsible for leading accurate and compliant payroll execution across multiple countries, streamlining HR processes, and partnering with stakeholders to ensure a consistent and reliable employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Management

  • Lead end-to-end payroll processing for APAC countries (e.g., Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, India, Philippines), as well as other global locations as needed.
  • Partner with internal teams and local payroll vendors to ensure all data inputs (salary, benefits, commissions, variable pay, etc.) are correctly captured and processed.
  • Ensure all payroll is delivered on time, in full compliance with local statutory requirements and internal controls.
  • Maintain knowledge of APAC-specific employment laws, tax regulations, and statutory benefits.
  • Coordinate payroll reporting, reconciliations, and audits in partnership with Finance.

HR Operations & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS (e.g., HiBob, BambooHR, Workday) and ensure data integrity across all HR systems.
  • Oversee core HR processes such as onboarding, offboarding, employee status changes, and document management.
  • Support the drafting and localization of employment contracts and HR policies across APAC.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations across multiple jurisdictions and support audits and internal policy reviews.

Process Optimization & Collaboration

  • Continuously identify areas for improvement in payroll and HR operations, with a focus on scalability and automation.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Legal, and other People team members to drive payroll-related initiatives.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for payroll and HR operations in APAC, responding to employee queries and providing guidance to local HR contacts or external partners.

Qualifications

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in HR operations, with a strong focus on payroll and at least 2 years managing payroll across APAC countries.
  • Familiarity with local labor laws and compliance requirements across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
  • Experience working in fintech, SaaS, or high-growth, multi-country organizations preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms and third-party payroll vendors.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple country-specific deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; other APAC languages a plus.
