This position reports to

Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will act as the technical lead for all engineering activities of Electrical Solutions projects in Marine and Ports. You will ensure efficient and cost-effective execution of engineering disciplines, provide technical support during commissioning and start-up, and contribute to project installation, commissioning, and site activities.

The work model for this role is: Onsite. This position contributes to the Process Automation Marine and Ports Division of ABB, Singapore. Your main responsibilities include:

1. Applying design thinking or design for excellence concepts in projects, including modelling, prototyping, simulation, and calculations.
2. Serving as a specialist in advanced electrical solutions engineering, including MV/LV switchgear, protection relays, and programming using Relion or equivalent tools.
3. System engineering over generators, transformers, motors, NER, AC/DC UPS, harmonic filters, and DC Grid systems with energy storage batteries.
4. Providing design authority for engineering deliverables and technical support for commissioning and delivery.
5. Collaborating on project installation, commissioning, and site activities to resolve potential issues or engineering errors.

Qualifications for the role

• Extensive experience in designing and engineering electrical system solutions for Marine and offshore projects.
• 8 to 10 years of experience with MV & LV switchgear, protection relay selection and programming, generators, transformers, motors, NER, UPS, harmonic filters, and DC grid solutions with ESS batteries.
• Experience with advanced electrical power systems based on DC Grid, ESS, hybrid, and full electric vessels is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of power system analysis and relay coordination using SKM/eTAP, MATLAB, and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of marine systems classification society requirements is an advantage.
• Proficiency in English communication.
