Job Summary:
The Process Engineer provides sustaining engineering support for manufacturing sites for parts cleaning, texturing and coatings, for driving Perfect Part Qualification and for driving new business acquisition. Leads efforts in constantly improving yields, customer quality, selection of best known processes. Continually develops the skills necessary for sustaining "world class" parts clean engineering services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintains conformance with the “Perfect Qual Process” to achieve timely, effective development of new and existing business opportunities.
- Manages tasks for timely response to customer issues, including failure analysis, CAPA, Engineering Task force CIP and other mission critical issues.
- Maintains and improves yields; performs root cause failure analysis, provides rapid hands on response to line problems in support of high-volume part clean factory.
- Develops and maintains inventory records, drawings, etc. in support of production workload.
- Develops/maintains/evaluates production tooling (fixtures, baskets, etc.) required for efficient, effective part processing.
- Participates in selection efforts for equipment replacement and specification efforts as required.
- Ensures compliance with existing operating procedures; recommends revisions as appropriate.
- Monitors effectiveness of production processes, supports problem resolution efforts for technical evaluation of parts being processed.
- Monitors compliance with material specification database for process materials (chemistry, gases, blast media, etc.).
- Monitors and ensures maintenance of process controls (pressures, temperatures, concentration, contamination, etc.) through SPC.
- Ensures process measurements and overall process CPK's fall within control and divisional limits.
- Ensures work environments meet safety and housekeeping standards for tasks being performed.
- Assists in development and implementation of training materials, examinations for staff training and certifications.
- Participates in customer audits, complaint resolution, costs analysis, time studies for sales/marketing.
- Participates in internal & external audits, CAPA resolution, defect/problem analysis, preventive action activities, etc.
- Fully participates on committees (technical, safety, environmental, etc.), as assigned
- Conducts monthly site qualification cleanliness testing for compliance with specifications
- Liaises with Engineering Managers and/or Core Engineering Group to ensure effective procedures and BKMs are implemented at assigned sites.
Other Duties
Participates in projects as assigned to improve systems, operations & cross-functional collaboration. Other duties may be assigned and at the discretion of the Immediate Supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Leadership and interpersonal communication skills; familiarity with wet chemistry processing, semiconductor tool consumables, semiconductor technology, critical cleaning technology, semiconductor processing, coating technologies, and CAD implementation.
- High level troubleshooting skills coupled with hands-on approach to solving problems. Familiarity with "Six Sigma", "Lean Manufacturing" concepts and other process improvement methods and approaches. Effective verbal & written communication skills as well as satisfactory interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the organization.
- Able to successfully prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Demonstrable understanding of production, engineering & quality initiatives and with safety & quality practices.
- Proficiency in the use Excel, PowerPoint and other systems/software to perform job duties satisfactorily.
- Able to complete assignments in a timely manner while adhering to deadlines and with sense of urgency.
Educational/Certification Requirement :
- A bachelor's degree in chemical, mechanical engineering, electrical/electronic engineering, or material sciences
Work Experience Requirements:
- Three (3) years working as a Process Engineer, and/or Quality Engineer is preferred
- Experience in quality and manufacturing systems, business process improvement tools, and problem solving.
- Experience with the ISO 9001 standard is required.
- Experience managing critical customer communications.
- Experience with Lean, 6S, zero defect manufacturing processes, inspection methods and tools.
Work Environment:
This job is usually performed in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other related equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and manufacturing areas can occasionally be moderate or loud.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit; climb stairs, maintain balance; employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust optical focus.
