Job description

Position: EAL Teacher

Reporting To: Principal

Direct Reports: No direct report

Job Description

  • Participate in interviews and initial assessment of prospective students with learning needs, particularly in regards to English as Additional Language, as required
  • Initiate appropriate assessment and testing of children referred by Class Teachers via the Vice-Principal and/or the Principal
  • Work closely with the Principal and the Vice-Principal to plan, deliver, monitor, assess and develop the EAL programme in EtonHouse
  • Liaise with Class Teachers in assessing and monitoring children’s progress.
  • Work closely with teachers, Vice-Principal, Principal and any specialists to develop an individual education plan if required
  • Collaborate with staff in long term planning.
  • Take corporate responsibility for displays throughout the school.
  • Share management and delivery of assemblies.
  • Offer and receive advice and guidance on issues which affect the whole school’s performance and ethos.
  • Share your expertise.
  • Participate in appraisal procedures and in-service training that provide personal, professional and career development.

Who are we looking for

  • Bachelor of Education or higher from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
  • Commitment to working in an educational environment that offers academic rigour and excellence in teaching
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Sensitivity toward cultural diversities
  • Ability to build community through positive interactions with parents
  • Self motivated with a high energy level
