AVP, Relationship Manager, Global Metals and Mining, Institutional Banking Group

Business Function

Corporate and Investment Banking provides corporate customers with a full range of commercial banking products and services, including cash management services, current accounts, time deposits, trade finance, working capital finance, term loans and foreign exchange. Through our continued commitment, DBS has cultivated long-standing relationships with its customers in the region that are based on account relationship management, service differentiation, product development and rigorous credit standards.

Metal and Mining team specifically covers corporates engaged in Global metal and mining space, from Upstream mining Companies to midstream smelters as well as major metal trading Houses. The team, in particular, focus on leading players in battery metals/transition metal value chain.

Responsibilities

  • Deal execution including skills in credit analysis and mitigation, financial modelling, due diligence and end-to-end credit process
  • Ensure proper management of existing portfolio of customers across products and geographies, especially for large accounts with heavy demands on day-to-day operational handling;
  • Ensure regular client engagement at both the working level as well as C-suite meetings. These should be supported by timely pre-meeting briefing notes with relevant talking points and actionable call reports;
  • Ensure quality, accuracy and relevance of pitches to clients by product partners
  • Proactive monitoring and management of accounts, being alert to credit deterioration or improvement, and taking timely action including elevation to senior management and Credit.
  • Ensure timely and accurate credit reviews of the whole portfolio; ensuring accuracy, timeliness review and supported by sufficient depth of analysis and synthesized insights and coherent recommendations.
  • Evaluate financial models with P&L, B/S & cash-flow projections based on sound business and market assumptions with high level of competence.
  • Oversee and craft loan & security documentation and negotiation with high degree of competence.
Requirements
  • University degree (preferably in Business, Accountancy, Finance or Economics ) with at least 7 to 8 years of experience in corporate banking relationship management, and/or credit risk review functions;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and capable of presenting excellent written deliverables, strong credit and financial analytical skills with the ability to independently prepare credit applications for approvals;
  • Team player, hands on experience and good appreciation of operational risk management
  • Demonstrated willingness to learn and committed to a career in the Metal and Mining space.
  • Adaptable and able to multitask and perform under strict deadlines, able to deal with and navigate ambiguous situations
  • Proactive, Self-motivated, collaborative, good organization and time management, with a positive can-do attitude.
