Job description

This position is for K2 Data Centres, a company under Kuok (Singapore) Limited, based in Singapore.

Purpose of the Role :

We are looking for a Commissioning Manager for the validation of data centres to function with excellent quality and delivered to optimize Client experience based out in Singapore.


Responsibilities :

  • Take on the role of a safety leader and foster a culture of safety, security, and compliance throughout all aspects of data centre commissioning and integration in the APAC region.
  • Establish standardized processes for commissioning and continuously strive for improvement. Enhance the commissioning program to ensure higher levels of safety, quality, and efficiency while minimizing schedule and cost.
  • Establish a standard commissioning procedure based on ASHRAE Level 1 to Level 5 within the region.
  • Produce and manage the standard testing and commissioning documents including but not limited to commissioning plan, commissioning programme, test scripts Level 1 to Level 5 & etc.
  • Develop customised commissioning plans and commissioning programmes for individual projects.
  • Produce specific commissioning scripts for Factory Acceptance Test (FAT, Level 1), Site Acceptable Test (SAT, Level 4) and the final Integrated Systems Testing (IST, Level 5) for individual projects.
  • Manage 3rd party commissioning managers or commissioning agents if employed and ensure all deliverables are in place.
  • Review all testing and commissioning scripts (Level 1 to Level 5) produced by 3rd party commissioning managers/agents and contractors/suppliers to ensure they are in line with K2 commissioning standards as well as project design requirements.
  • Manage the commissioning programme for individual projects to ensure all required commissioning activities are completed on time.
  • Attend and lead all factory and site witness tests to ensure all equipment is evaluated and commissioned according to both K2 commissioning standards as well as project design requirements.
  • Regularly visit sites on a weekly basis during initial commissioning stages (Level 2 & Level 3).
  • Work full time on-site when required during final commissioning stages (Level 4 & Level 5).
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Technical & Delivery Team and FM Operation Team, to ensure a smooth transition from the final commissioning stage to the initial operation stage.
  • Work closely with the general contractor, architect, and engineers to lead the project closeout process.
  • Capture valuable lessons learned from commissioning, integration, and closeout activities, and ensure that these insights are integrated into the Basis of Design for future projects.
  • Develop, standardize, optimize, and automate processes to support a successful Ready For Service (RFS) phase.
  • Develop and review design standards, specifications, and operational procedures to ensure consistency and maximize the reliability of systems.
  • Ensure the smooth transfer of ownership for the Safety-in-Design (SiD) final report from the Development team.
  • Validate data center infrastructure asset information, ensuring accurate recording and providing necessary documentation.
  • Travel within the region to support engineering initiatives, conduct system assessments, perform startup testing, and facilitate the commissioning and turnover process to Critical Operations as required.

Working environment entails:

  • Walking job sites which have areas of uneven terrain.

Job requirements

Skills set and Qualifications Requirements:

  • 8-10 years of experience in testing and commissioning of data centres.
  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certified Data Center Professional and in Project Management.
  • Managed start-up, testing and commissioning standard procedures in collaboration with 3rd party commissioning managers/agents on the customer site, managing testing and commissioning based on ASHRAE Level 1 to Level 5 test scripts.
  • Achieved enhancement and streamlining of processes, procedures, responsibility matrix, and tools used during a project’s start-up, testing, and commissioning phases.
