Job description

What the role is:
  1. Review and assess licensee's proposed Ten-Year Transmission Network Development Plan to ensure it meets planning criteria for secure and reliable operation of electricity and natural gas systems. This includes system studies such as contingency analysis, fault level studies, and stability studies.
  2. Perform system studies to evaluate the impact of new proposed power plants or consumer installations on the electricity and gas systems.
  3. Review power plants' performance to ensure compliance with technical regulatory requirements, including on-site witnessing of generator testing.
  4. Integrate new transmission and generation technologies into the power system, such as Energy Storage Systems (ESS), HVDC, electricity import, and large-scale PV generation.
  5. Conduct studies on electricity and gas interdependency to ensure sufficient survival time for the gas network and the security and stability of the power system.
  6. Conduct power system studies, including reviews of underfrequency load shedding schemes and solar PV penetration, to maintain system security and stability.
  7. Regularly review technical requirements for facilities providing ancillary services to maintain system security and stability.
  8. Review proposed facilities for ancillary services during procurement processes by EMC for technical compliance.
  9. Update and review Code/market rules and system operation manuals to ensure they are current.
  10. Oversee and coordinate all phases of facility registration processes, engaging stakeholders for timely and compliant registration.
Requirements:
  • Relevant background or specialization in Engineering studies.
  • Knowledge or experience in power system studies and analysis, including power system dynamics, power flow, natural gas flow, and short circuit analysis; experience with renewable energy sources and energy storage system integration is advantageous.
  • A responsible team player with a good attitude, initiative, and ability to work independently.
