Job Summary

The Vice President of Strategic Development & Mining Operations will lead the company’s strategic initiatives in mineral exploration, development, and operational activities. This senior leadership role will involve overseeing the assessment, acquisition, and development of mineral resources while ensuring operational excellence, compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and fostering stakeholder relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Strategic Growth & Business Development
    • Develop and execute multi-year mining strategy aligned with board-level objectives.
    • Lead M&A deals, partnerships, and new market entries in the resource sector.
    • Conduct market intelligence on mining trends, commodities, and expansion opportunities.
  2. Mine Development & Operational Oversight
    • Oversee the planning and execution of new mineral development projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets from start to steady-state.
    • Ensure full lifecycle management from permits, procurement to production optimization.
    • Implement Lean and digital initiatives for operational efficiency and cost control.
    • Collaborate with geological and engineering teams to assess mineral reserves and implement efficient extraction methods.
    • Direct day-to-day operations of mineral extraction and processing activities, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  3. Corporate Affairs & Stakeholder Engagement & Risk Management
    • Engage regulators, investors, and government agencies to advance project approvals.
    • Represent the company in high-level forums, ESG discussions, and public platforms.
    • Strengthen governance, risk compliance, and reputational stewardship.
    • Lead the design, development, and commissioning of processing facilities, including refineries where necessary, to maximize resource recovery.
    • Ensure facilities operate efficiently and comply with all regulatory requirements.
    • Identify potential risks associated with mineral development and operations, implementing robust mitigation strategies.
  4. Financial Oversight & P&L Responsibility:
    • Develop and manage budgets for both development projects and existing operations, ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals.
    • Monitor financial performance, identify opportunities for cost reduction, and implement corrective actions as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements and internal controls.
  5. Team & Executive Leadership
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to teams across mineral development and operations, promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
    • Build leadership pipeline and succession plans to support organizational growth.
    • Drive values-based leadership focused on performance, safety, and innovation.
  6. Technology Integration
    • Evaluate and implement innovative technologies to improve minerals processing, environmental performance, and operational efficiency.
    • Drive initiatives that modernize exploration and extraction techniques.
Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mining Engineering, or related field; MBA preferred.

• Minimum 10 years of senior leadership in mining operations and project development.

• Proven track record in P&L management, M&A, and stakeholder engagement.

• Strong cross-border experience in Asia-Pacific; multilingual a plus.
