A leading company in the insurance sector is seeking an experienced underwriter to join their New Business Underwriting team. The role involves assessing applications, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Ideal candidates will have a degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, along with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
Job Purpose
Provide underwriting support across all product lines within the New Business Underwriting team.
Key Responsibilities
Assess and underwrite new applications for Life, Accident & Health, Disability Income, and Long-Term Care products.
Review and countersign cases, offering guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters.
Deliver underwriting support to financial planners via e-booking systems, emails, phone inquiries, and in-person consultations at the NBU counter.
Serve as a key liaison to foster strong working relationships between the NBU team and distribution channels.
Ensure departmental KPIs are consistently met.
Conduct underwriting training sessions for distribution partners.
Manage projects such as updating underwriting guidelines and streamlining processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Demonstrate ownership in managing business and regulatory compliance risks, taking proactive steps to mitigate them.
Stay current on regulatory changes, industry trends, emerging threats, and new technologies to better safeguard the company.
Identify and communicate potential risks and share best practices in risk management proactively.
Requirements
A degree with a minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience in Life, Accident & Health.
Candidates without a degree but with relevant experience or underwriting certifications may also be considered.
Strong analytical skills, ability to perform under pressure, and a collaborative mindset.
Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
High level of integrity with a strong sense of accountability and team spirit.
Proactive, adaptable, and open to change with a continuous improvement mindset.
