RESPONSIBILITIES

The Deputy Director (Business Development) will craft and execute a comprehensive strategy to maximize revenue, capitalize on opportunities, foster repeat business, and promote our brand. Reporting to the Assistant Chief Executive (ACE), Museum Experience & Operations, this role leads the Business Development team.

Business Development Planning and Client Retention

  • Develop strategies for income streams: Corporate Events & Experience Sales, Overseas Market Development, Chargeable Products, and Tenant Management.
  • Lead a passionate team, ensuring alignment with strategic goals through client debriefs and initiative implementation.
  • Prospect, pitch, and build relationships with clients, presenting tailored solutions and services.
  • Collaborate on proposals, pricing, and meeting client needs with internal teams.
  • Create new partnership concepts and business models considering market segmentation, value propositions, and pricing.
  • Implement partner programs, sales processes, and market strategies to drive growth and expand market presence.
  • Manage F&B operations, tenant relationships, and joint marketing efforts to ensure optimal tenant mix and business growth.
  • Oversee museum shop and merchandise sales, ensuring alignment with the museum’s brand and mission.
  • Maintain industry knowledge, identify new opportunities, and develop sales forecasts.
  • Participate in industry events, provide market insights, and develop new products and channels.
  • Coordinate with various departments to increase revenue, engagement, and brand awareness, leveraging market knowledge to develop unique selling propositions.

Management & Research

  • Track sales targets, forecasts, and prepare reports; ensure data accuracy in CRM systems.
  • Implement key account management strategies for long-term revenue maximization.
  • Understand and develop the team’s capabilities; provide training and mentorship as needed.
  • Manage budgets and procurement; oversee financial reporting and KPI tracking.
  • Develop and enforce knowledge management policies and procedures, including documentation and record-keeping.
  • Ensure compliance with audit requirements and maintain operational records.
  • Maintain and update Business Continuity Processes relevant to sales and business development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management; MBA preferred.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in business development, sales, key account management, or related fields.
  • Experience in retail management, merchandise design, tenant management advantageous.
  • Resourceful, hands-on, detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership in managing high-performing teams and developing talent.
  • Knowledge of market segmentation, go-to-market strategies, Challenger Sales, and Blue Ocean Strategy preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Passion for the arts; exposure to the art world is a plus.
  • Skills include networking, persuasion, prospecting, public speaking, research, writing, closing, motivation, territory management, CRM, and sales planning.
