Job description

Key Responsibilities

Support the Impact Programme Manager to manage career advisory and impact programmes of the Bettr Academy. Through outreach and supporting the team to drive the holistic social impact outcomes, you will support the team in outreach efforts, programmatic implementation and service provision to support the development of beneficiaries from a diverse set of needs, including mid-career transitioners, at-risk and marginalised backgrounds with complex support needs. You will lead the team in overseeing job support and career advisory for students, You will report to the Manager of Impact Programmes.

Leadership:

  • Oversee the Outreach and engagement of Social Service Agencies, Nonprofits and other potential referral pathways for the Bettr Impact programmes to engage prospective programme participants
  • Establishing and fostering new relationships with external partners for the benefit of building the Bettr community
  • Oversee the maintenance and development of employment partnerships; onboarding new employment partners based on the standards of the Bettr Academy impact programme framework
  • Establishing and fostering the alumni network and community through sustained engagement on platforms such as community-building campaigns, virtual and physical events, career and learning and development opportunities
  • Support the Impact Manager to promote a positive employee relations culture through effective communication and regular team meetings.
  • Support the larger Bettr Group in ensuring the team meets monthly targets, goals and objectives according to our strategic plan

Operational Duties:

  • Work alongside all internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day running of the impact programmes
  • Provision of Career Advisory to prospective students and funnel them into the appropriate programmes within the Bettr Academy
  • Scheduling and coordination of outreach campaigns and partnership events for the social programmes
  • Maintaining and growing the database of community partners
  • Managing the community platforms including Student Management systems such as WhatsApp communities.
  • Performing routine analysis, report on trends, outcomes of referral outreach and community engagement efforts
  • Supporting the team in providing support to clients with complex support needs from at-risk and disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Supporting the analysis, development and establishing of digital platforms to address digitalisation needs of the organisation. These include student management systems, learning management systems and other digitalisation platforms.
  • Provision of Job Support to students on impact programmes including Bettr’s flagship holistic training programme, Skills Career Transition Programme
  • Other special projects which will be agreed upon between your supervisor and you

Work Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years experience partnerships, outreach, education and training, management OR executive role
  • Experience with managing communities and partnerships, career advisory, and mentoring
  • Preparing and delivering written and verbal reports
  • Supporting groups and individuals from a diverse range of support needs and demographics
  • Willingness and ability to support clients with needs such as:
    • Mental or physical illness
    • Low income or educational attainment
    • Unemployment
    • Victims of abuse or neglect
    • Offenders
    • Substance abuse
    • Special educational needs
    • Facilitating programmes, workshops or training

Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead & motivate others
  • Assessing risks and viability of options to solve problems and make high-quality decisions
  • Able to maintain accurate and efficient record keeping systems
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise work, handle conflicting demands and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experienced in dealing with challenging behaviour
  • Able to develop ideas and data into concrete plans and actions
  • Good knowledge of existing laws, policies and code of ethics in a local context
