Job description

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Scientist to join our team working on the development of cryogenic integrated circuits (ICs) for quantum computing and other low-temperature applications. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and development in the field of cryogenics, focusing on designing and optimizing ICs that operate at cryogenic temperatures. You will be part of a dynamic team collaborating with academic institutions, industry leaders, and cross-functional teams to push the boundaries of technology in the rapidly evolving quantum computing ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop cryogenic-compatible ICs for quantum computing and quantum sensing applications.

  • Characterise and optimize IC performance at ultra-low temperatures, focusing on noise reduction, power efficiency, and signal integrity.

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to integrate ICs into quantum hardware platforms, ensuring seamless operation in cryogenic environments.

  • Conduct experimental tests and simulations to validate the performance of cryogenic IC designs.

  • Contribute to research publications and patent filings to protect innovations and showcase technical advancements.

  • Collaborate with industry stakeholders, academic institutions, and consortia to advance the state-of-the-art in cryogenic IC technologies.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, or a related field with a focus on cryogenic systems, semiconductor materials, or integrated circuits.

  • 2-5 years of experience in designing, testing and characterising analog/mixed-signal ICs (ADC, DAC, AFE etc). Familiar with chip-level modelling, integration and verification.

  • Hands-on experience with PCB design, operating high performance test equipment, especially for high frequency and low-noise circuit design.

  • Familiarity with system-level modeling and simulation, using tools like MATLAB and Python, to model and optimize cryogenic IC performance.

  • Understanding of the challenges of operating electronic systems at cryogenic temperatures is a plus.

  • Proven ability to design, develop, and optimize analog/mixed-signal ICs for low-temperature applications.

  • Experience with system-level modeling and simulation using MATLAB/Python.

  • Strong publication track record in relevant technical fields, demonstrating a history of research contributions and innovation.

  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and collaborating with external partners.Strong communication skills for presenting research findings to academic, industrial, and governmental stakeholders.
