Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) is looking for a Ropes Specialist

We are looking for a Ropes Specialist who will be the product expert in ropes product groups. Proactively supporting the growth in rope product group sales whilst delivering excellent customer experience. Leveraging customer Insights leading to Value added for the Customer and increasing our Sales Growth. This will be done utilising tools and knowledge accumulated about the customer as well as the strong and sustainable relationships formed. The ideal candidate will therefore be expected to a trusted advisor and main point of contact for Ropes with the ability to deliver excellent customer service. internally sourcing of goods according to tools and parameters outlined in the process for the Ropes Specialist Centre. The Ropes Specialist will also drive sales through proactive follow ups on orders, value adding on the purchasing aspects , cross/up selling to identiy new leads and opportunities.

Who you will be reporting to:

The Ropes Specialist will report to Head of Ropes Specialists and closely cooperate within the specialist centre as well as Sales, Sales Advisors, Order Processing Centres, Operations, Credit, Pricing. Imperatively, appropriate problem solving and close cooperation with other functions internally to fulfil customer needs in the most efficient way.

What you will be doing:

  • Capturing customer specific information and requirements in the system and working proactively with customers to help them standardise their requests

  • Following up customer complaints/non-compliances through the improvements/complaints system

  • Handling warranty claims and product returns

  • Identifying and actively pursuing sales and order building opportunities

  • Proactively following up enquiries and capturing sales leads and opportunities through planned quotes and similar customer facing activities

  • Engaging with customers by understanding and supporting the decision makers’ needs and requirements

  • Actively promoting sales campaigns, promotions, and initiatives to customers

  • Processing all enquiries and orders related to Ropes for agreed customers as per global processes and targets, whilst keeping customers informed of changes in the order delivery status, surcharges, and any other relevant information

  • Prioritizing, validating all rope requests and current inventory for delivery to customers

What you need to be successful in this role:

  • Relevant education and/or relevant work experience

  • Interest/experience in the shipping industry and marine products

  • Solid commercial understanding and sales skills, with a professional and proactive attitude

  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to act on Data Driven Insights.
