Job description:
Responsibilities:
- Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement (e.g. major equipment) and perform technical evaluation of vendor's bid.
- Prepare and review mechanical and ducting & piping designs and Bill of Material for Approval, Working and As-Built.
- Arrange for Material Take Off of equipment, mechanical and ducting & piping component and instrumentation.
- Prepare and review machinery layout arrangement.
- Perform shaft alignment, torsional vibration, strength calculations etc.
- Manage and check technical information of external suppliers of equipment and systems and coordinate/cooperate with engineers from other trades in the organization.
- To check drawings/documents and material list and ensure that they conform to contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification and Statutory Rules/Regulations.
- Liaise with shipowners and surveyors.
- To control and monitor the creation of part number and description of material/item.
- To ensure equipment specification, installation control document and interface design specification are properly maintained, disseminated and use for preparation of design activities.
- Point of contact with the production team to provide design and engineering solutions onsite where necessary.
- Participate in tests and trials, when required.
- To advise Department Head on work progress/status and shortcomings on technical issues on project under his charge.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical/Marine Engineering
- 3-5 years of experience in engineering design in Marine/Offshore/Oil & Gas industry
- Good knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules and Regulations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D software, Navisworks and Microsoft Office
