Organise and plan required tools needed before commencement of work.
Ensure jobs are done safely without any accidents occurring and according to drawing.
Complete works within the given schedule & within allocated time.
Perform & maintain highest quality as per work drawing/instruction.
Perform team work and maintain good communication with fellow Machinists.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Must be able to follow safety rules and regulations.
Able to follow instructions given by Foreman/Supervisor.
Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
Review drawings, instructions, or samples to ensure accurate production.
Able to work without supervision.
Operate and maintain with care on Lathe, Milling, Drilling, and other machines.
Handle all precision measuring instruments, i.e., micrometers, dial gauges, etc. with care.
Able to identify ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
Can carry out precision machining works with safe working procedures.
Able to calibrate precise measurements and prepare a simple calibration report.
Design fixtures, tooling, and experimental parts to meet special engineering needs.
Able to provide tolerances and allowances of mechanical parts to be machined.
Willing to work overtime when needed.
Must be able to identify different types of threads.
Must be able to identify different types of tools and equipment.
Must be able to reinstate/return tools and clean machines and surroundings after completion of work.
Clean and lubricate machines, tools, and equipment after use.
Continue to acquire knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
At least 3 years minimum working experience as a machinist in the ship repair industry/machine shop.
Certificate of competency in Machining Works/Machine Shop Practices.
