We are looking for a Senior Environmental Designer with sustainable design experience and specialist knowledge in building energy optimisation to consult on projects.

About The Role

You will be responsible for delivering environmental and sustainability advice on projects for both internal and external clients. This includes consulting on environmental design, sustainability benchmarking/implementation, daylight & shading design, sustainable systems, materials, waste, and emphasizing building energy optimisation. Your work will involve sound analytics including building physics, ranging from masterplanning to detailed design of specific buildings across various scales and locations globally. Coordination with mechanical and electrical servicing concepts, and supporting design engineers for internal projects, will be part of your responsibilities.

You will lead and maintain a range of projects, providing environmental design inputs and ensuring timely, accurate project information. You will serve as a point of contact for clients and collaborators, and lead internal efforts of junior staff, establishing standards and coordinating delivery.

We seek someone experienced in a fast-paced office environment, capable of managing multiple deadlines, working independently, and collaborating effectively with colleagues at all levels. Proactivity, motivation, and strong interpersonal skills are essential.

Key Accountabilities
Technical Ability
  • Demonstrate expertise in at least two practice areas.
  • Provide consultancy on environmental design, sustainability, building energy optimisation, daylight & shading, sustainable systems, materials, waste, and building physics.
  • Align with Atelier Ten’s approach and standards.
  • Help define client briefs with environmental and sustainability goals.
  • Deliver technical solutions aligned with client needs.
  • Support and mentor junior team members.
  • Understand other discipline contributions.
Project Management
  • Communicate effectively with clients and team members.
  • Organise junior staff to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain project overview and explain project status clearly.
  • Understand contractual obligations.
  • Mentor junior staff.
Marketing
  • Assist in business development efforts.
  • Provide project feedback and foster positive relationships.
Skills
  • Work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Strategically structure project information delivery.
  • Strong report writing and IT skills, including building physics software.
  • Develop bespoke assessment methods for projects.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in relevant fields.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership preferred.
  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering or sustainability consulting.
  • Proven experience in thermal and energy modelling, daylight modelling, CFD, parametric modelling, and programming.
  • Proficiency in IES VE, Radiance, Excel, Grasshopper, eQuest, EnergyPlus, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, Rhino, and programming skills.
  • Successful track record in sustainable project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and multitasking skills.
