Third Party Officer (TPO) Job Description

The Third Party Officer (TPO) is responsible for managing high-risk third party relationships for Citi. The TPO requires in-depth knowledge of business products and will oversee third party relationships throughout their lifecycle. Collaboration with Business Activity Owners (BAO), business operations, technology teams, and internal functions is essential to identify, manage, and mitigate risks.

Responsibilities:
  1. Complete and update Risk Assessments for third parties, especially when significant changes occur.
  2. Ensure contracts meet Citi requirements through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  3. Verify third party compliance with policies and controls.
  4. Manage escalations related to non-performance and contractual issues with BAOs and third parties.
  5. Maintain a dashboard to monitor third party performance and SLA breaches.
  6. Assess results from Risk Management Assessments, including IS, COB, DPO, Export, Credit, Country Risk, and Financial Evaluations.
  7. Lead remediation efforts for issues identified during monitoring.
  8. Define risk mitigation strategies and manage risk exceptions aligned with the business’s risk appetite.
  9. Monitor and address exceptions to dispute policies and identify their drivers.
  10. Operate independently with minimal supervision, exercising judgment and autonomy.
  11. Serve as SME to senior stakeholders and team members.
  12. Assess risks in business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and policies, and escalating issues appropriately.
Qualifications:
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in Business Risk & Controls.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Access, SAS, SQL, Visual Basic is a plus. 5+ years in financial services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective organizational and influencing skills.
  • Experience in third-party vendor management and leading global teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to focus on critical details while understanding the big picture.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
