Job description

What The Role Is

Singapore’s transition to a low-carbon economy is a critical global challenge. As part of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI), you will support policy development and implementation related to energy and carbon mitigation, particularly focusing on measures endorsed by IMCCC such as Renewable Energy imports, Carbon Credit procurement, and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). Your role will be essential in meeting Singapore’s 2030 NDCs and advancing our low-carbon strategies.

What You Will Be Working On

You will work within MTI’s Energy and Carbon cluster to develop markets, infrastructure, and capabilities for low-carbon energy sources while ensuring energy security and economic competitiveness. Specifically, in the CCS team, you will formulate strategies and policies for carbon mitigation, manage stakeholder relationships, and support the development of a viable commercial model and regulations for CCS. Your work will involve collaboration across government agencies, industry partners, and international stakeholders to support Singapore’s green growth and sustainable economic transformation.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with the EMA Carbon Capture and Storage Programme Office to develop a commercial model, economic regulations, and masterplan for CCS.
  • Work with EDB to establish incentive models supporting CCS and represent government interests in PPP contracts.
  • Stay informed on emerging CCS technologies and innovations.
  • Negotiate G2G agreements with regional countries to support regional cooperation on carbon mitigation strategies.

What We Are Looking For

We seek dedicated, capable professionals with a strong desire to contribute to Singapore’s carbon transition. Ideal candidates thrive in fast-paced environments, possess excellent stakeholder engagement skills, and demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Experience in policy review, formulation, and implementation.
  • Understanding of regional political complexities.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and influencing abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork capability.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt.
  • Detail-oriented, resourceful, and driven.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
  • Preferred backgrounds include policy, international affairs, commercial, or engineering experience.
