Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly capable Technical Lead – Projects to provide hands-on technical leadership across sustainability-focused engineering initiatives. This role encompasses electrical system design, industrial automation, and control systems integration across multiple concurrent projects. The Technical Lead will oversee technical execution, coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and performance standards.

Working closely with the Project Manager, the Technical Lead will guide engineering teams, supervise technical implementation, and take ownership of the overall technical quality of deliverables—including electrical schematics, control schematics, control panel layouts, power distribution designs, field integration, data integration, and software application delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Oversight

• Provide technical direction across all electrical and control system engineering activities within multiple concurrent projects.

• Guide and coordinate engineers and technicians in executing electrical, control, and integration works.

• Ensure engineering deliverables meet functional, regulatory, and client requirements.

Electrical Engineering and Design

• Lead the design and review of electrical systems, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), power distribution layouts, and circuit protection schemes.

• Develop and validate electrical control panels, termination diagrams, and field wiring schematics.

• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical codes, standards (e.g., IEC, SS, NEC), and safety practices.

System Integration and Automation

• Design and implement integrated control systems (SCADA/DCS, PLCs, HMIs), including communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, MQTT, and Profibus.

• Supervise the integration of electrical systems with software platforms, sensors, actuators, and BMS components.

• Support hardware-software interface testing and onsite configuration.

Project Execution Support

• Oversee site installation works and coordinate with contractors and vendors on technical execution.

• Lead or support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and system commissioning.

• Assist in resolving technical issues during construction and handover stages.

Documentation and Risk Compliance

• Prepare and review method statements, electrical load calculations, and risk assessments.

• Ensure technical documentation is complete, accurate, and aligned with project scope.

Client and Stakeholder Support

• Act as the key technical contact supporting the Project Manager in meetings and coordination efforts.

• Present technical solutions, clarify design decisions and provide post-installation technical support.

Training and Team Enablement

• Mentor junior engineers and share domain expertise in electrical and control systems.

• Contribute to internal knowledge building and the development of standard design practices.

To perform in this role, you should have:

Education:

  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields.

Experience:

  • Extensive experience in system design, implementation, and integration.
  • Proficiency in industrial protocols such as Modbus, OPC (DA/UA), MQTT, and Profibus.
  • Strong background in PLC programming and HMI/GUI development.
  • Proven experience in testing, commissioning, and risk assessment processes.

Mindset:

  • A growth-oriented, innovative thinker passionate about sustainability.

Skills:

  • Project management and team leadership skills.
  • Effective communication and client engagement abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in BMS, smart metering, or energy monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with IoT and cloud-connected monitoring platforms.
  • Familiarity with safety and compliance standards for electrical systems, building management systems, and industrial automation.
