Job description

We are seeking a qualified legal professional to join as our second in-house counsel. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a driven lawyer to build expertise in the dynamic oil and gas sector while taking ownership of significant legal responsibilities.

Job Scope

  • Review, draft, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements

  • Provide legal guidance on international trade regulations and compliance matters affecting the business

  • Develop standard operating procedures, guidelines, and documentation templates

  • Manage day-to-day compliance, internal governance, and corporate secretarial functions

  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise management on potential business impacts

  • Work closely with the Legal Manager who will provide guidance and mentorship

Requirements

  • LLB degree from a recognized university with admission to practice law

  • 2-4 years Post-Qualification Experience (PQE)

  • Strong contract drafting, review, and negotiation skills

  • Excellent analytical abilities and attention to detail

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to team objectives

  • Experience and knowledge in the following would be an advantage,

    o Trade and shipping law

    o Familiarity with global sanctions regimes, anti-money laundering regulations, anti-bribery/corruption laws, and data protection frameworks

    o Experience with international commercial contracts
