Job Description

AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to develop deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The programme office is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and collaborates with Singapore-based research institutions, AI start-ups, and companies to conduct use-inspired research, develop tools, and nurture AI talent.

The AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP) is a flagship initiative by AISG to cultivate local AI talent and enhance their careers with AI skills. Apprentices undergo 2 months of intensive training followed by 7 months of real-world project execution. Since its inception, 18 batches of apprentices have participated in this award-winning programme.

To support AIAP, the AIAP Foundation was launched as an AI-powered learning platform to prepare aspiring apprentices with foundational AI and machine learning skills. Using advanced technologies like large language model (LLM) agents and personalized feedback systems, it offers a self-paced, hands-on environment to simulate AI engineering roles, thereby scaling AI talent development in Singapore.

The AIAP Foundation team seeks passionate engineers to help shape AI talent development. Responsibilities include refining the platform, building AI-powered features, and launching innovative educational initiatives. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to develop scalable tools and immersive learning simulations to prepare apprentices for AI careers, contributing to Singapore's AI sector growth.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Drive tasks related to AIAP and AIAP Foundation.
• Integrate and optimize LLM-based agents for personalized learning and automated feedback.
• Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to develop impactful features.
• Conduct AI research, development, and maintenance of AIAP technologies.
• Lead solution development for AI-based projects, including Short Industry Projects.
• Mentor AI apprentices during training, projects, and other programmes.
• Manage AIAP recruitment activities.
• Contribute to industry and community outreach through talks, seminars, workshops, and publications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, physics, engineering, or related areas.
• Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience developing AI/ML solutions, with deployment and integration experience preferred. Experience with Generative AI and LLMs (Prompt Engineering, Fine-tuning) is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of machine learning/deep learning fundamentals, including the mathematical principles of algorithms used in computer vision, NLP, and tabular data.
• Proficiency in Python-based AI/ML frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and scikit-learn, with clean coding practices.
• Experience with software development tools such as Git and Docker; familiarity with Linux, CI/CD, and MLOps tools is advantageous.
• Excellent communication skills for data storytelling, visualization, and explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Team-oriented with a passion for mentoring and problem-solving.
• Self-motivated learner with curiosity and meticulous attention to detail.
