Job description

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply as Part-Time Lecturer to supervise laboratory session for IE3017 Computer Communication. The Part-Time Lecturer is expected to commence work in August 2023.

The main course IE3017 Computer Communication is offered to students taking NTU B.Eng EEE & B.Eng IEM Programmes with the objective to impart to the students the fundamental concepts in computer communications, proceeding from data communications over a data link to transfer of information across local-area networks and wide-area networks. The Part-time Lecturer will supervise the lab module E3017L tied to this course. The lab description is provided as follow:

E3017L Lab Description

Students are required to go through a 3-hour lab session "LAN Switch Operations". The purpose of this lab is to strengthen and re-enforce those concepts taught in the class. This experiment comprises two parts:

Part I : Spanning-Tree Protocol in switched LAN

• To study the principle of spanning-tree algorithm

• To study the characteristics of LAN switches in the presence of spanning-tree algorithm

Part II : Multiple VLAN operations

• To study the principle of virtual LAN (VLAN)

• Create multiple VLANs and trunk links between switches

The successful candidate should have extensive relevant industry experience and/or at least a PhD degree in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and a passion for teaching. Past teaching experience in a similar subject at Undergraduate Level (for IE3017) is preferred.
