Part-Time lecturer for DF3012 Directing for Film

The School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, invites qualified candidates to apply for a Part-Time Lecturer for DF3012 Directing for Film. The Part-Time Lecturer is expected to teach an undergraduate core course commencing in August 2025.

DF3012 Directing for Film is a 13-week course intermediate level film course were students will receive an intensive introduction to practical film directing in fiction films. Students will experience an in-depth knowledge of the director’s craft, focusing on effective performance for the screen and how to improve your ability to make directorial choices to articulate a meaningful cinematic narrative. The learning in this course will directly inform and enhance any directing responsibilities in future film projects.

Applicants to this position will be able to demonstrate expertise in overseeing the audio aspect of students' projects related to digital filmmaking, from initial concept, screenwriting, production and post-production to the final sound mix. Applicants will be able to demonstrate passion in guiding students in exploring the possibilities of audio for film in a variety of forms, which may include traditional scripted filmmaking, serialized content, non-scripted content and short-format videos.

Successful candidates will have a relevant Master’s and/or PhD in audio or related field with a track record of creative practice in film production. Past teaching experience at Undergraduate Level is preferred. Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in Film Production or related field and sufficient and relevant industry experience may also be considered in exceptional cases.
