Job description

Google will prioritize applicants who have a current right to work in Singapore and do not require Google's sponsorship of a visa.

Minimum qualifications:
  1. Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience.
  2. 2 years of electrical experience (e.g., electrical testing equipment or electrical distribution) in an industrial or commercial environment.
  3. Ability to lift/move 23kg (50lb) of equipment as required. Ability to exert yourself physically over extended periods, including frequent bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing/pulling, and lifting.
  4. Ability to work non-standard, on-call rotation weekend and holiday hours.
Preferred qualifications:
  1. Electrical Technician's License.
  2. 4 years of experience in operating and maintaining mission-critical facilities (data centers, hospitals, pharma, semiconductor, refineries, power plants, industrial, etc.).
  3. Troubleshooting experience with electrical systems.
  4. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and control systems, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDU/PMM units, chillers, air handling units, and CRAC units.
  5. Ability to learn quickly and address issues during normal operations or emergencies.

The Data Center team designs and operates sophisticated electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems. Facilities Technicians operate, monitor, and support physical facilities conditions, including heating, cooling, power supply, generators, UPS systems, electrical distribution, and control systems. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various data center systems, reading blueprints/schematics, conducting system tours, and assessing system health.

You will develop creative approaches to reduce operational costs while improving data center efficiency, ensuring safety and environmental standards are met, and quickly addressing issues and repairs. In emergencies, you will manage performance issues and outages to minimize recovery time.

This role involves operating, monitoring, and supporting physical facilities with a focus on safety and 24/7 availability, including air conditioning, cooling water, power, generators, UPS, and building management systems.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment in a data center environment.
  2. Prepare and execute operation procedures, respond to work requests/service failures, and support project implementation, including vendor coordination for repairs and replacements.
  3. Improve site Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE) and Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE), optimize operational efficiency, and minimize environmental impact. Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and recovery/prevention actions for failures.
  4. Track and analyze operational data. Ensure safety regulations are followed.
  5. Work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, and adapt to varying outdoor temperatures.
