Job description

What the role is:

The officer’s key role is to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency, and user experience, through the use of appropriate tech and AI tools, in particular, Robotic Process Automation (RPA). The officer will represent MOM’s strategic business interests as part of the joint business and tech RPA Core Team that maintains and enhances the Ministry’s RPA ecosystem, collaborating with divisions to develop innovative and scalable RPA use cases. Besides RPA, the officer may also be involved in other tech-enablement initiatives, including promoting adoption of ready AI tools, designing user experiences related to tech tools, collaborating on tech solutions and products, and driving public sector innovation and transformation.

What you will be working on:

• Maintain and enhance the Ministry’s RPA ecosystem, including:
• Implementing software updates with minimal impact on business processes in collaboration with the IT team
• Engaging citizen developers to leverage automation software features, identify, and build value-adding use cases, and track man-hour savings
• Collaborating with stakeholders on RPA capability development and exploring AI integration
• Providing technical expertise for troubleshooting or developing new scripts
• Drive and support tech-enablement beyond automation, including:
• Staying updated on emerging trends in automation and AI to identify opportunities for MOM to leverage technology for decision-making, operational efficiency, and user experience improvements
• Working with MOM divisions to promote adoption of suitable tech and AI tools
• Develop MOM, inter-agency, and professional networks by engaging automation practitioners to share MOM’s RPA initiatives, learn best practices, and benchmark automation maturity.
• Contribute to digital transformation initiatives within MOM.

What we are looking for:

• Tertiary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Business Information Technology, or related fields
• At least 5 years of relevant experience interfacing between business users and IT teams is advantageous; candidates without prior experience are welcome to apply
• Familiarity with business process analysis, RPA process design, and automation best practices; experience with RPA tools like UiPath is preferred
• UiPath certification is an added advantage
• Experience in governance, system development, or using AI solutions from GovTech and Open Government Products is desirable
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Meticulous, customer-focused team player capable of multi-tasking, taking initiative, and working independently with multiple stakeholders
