Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Duty Engineer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the property, its facilities and guest rooms to ensure that a high standard of upkeep and maintenance. He also oversees and is accountable for all preventive maintenance, major replacement of equipment, alteration and improvement works.

Our Expectations:

  • Plan and coordinates the execution of preventive maintenance and repair schedules of all machinery, equipment and facilities and see to the proper execution by engineering associates or external agencies or contractors.

  • Perform administrative duties such as inventory management, record keeping of engineering work / repair, etc.

  • Ensure good housekeeping of the engineering workshop and that all safety procedures and rules are adhered to.

  • Manage Engineering outsourced contractor and vendors to ensure that works are completed in accordance to Hotel and/or Regulatory standards and requirements.

  • Work with procurement to obtain quotations for all the necessary works by external agencies / contractors and for all necessary purchases from suppliers with proper scope of work and requirements for approval by Chief Engineer. Provide functional expertise and advice to Hotel and regulatory authorities whenever required.

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in the planning and preparation of the annual Engineering budget including capital expenditure. Regularly review budget spends and ensure controls are put in place to effectively manage cost with the Chief Engineer.

  • Monitor and track utilities consumption and suggest energy conservation initiatives and plans. Advise the Chief Engineer on any discrepancies and abnormalities in the energy consumption.

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in coaching, guiding and conduct appraisals of department associates in ensuring the high standard of engineering services which meets the expectations of the building owner / guests.

  • Prepare the duty roster of engineering associates to ensure effective deployment and use of resources. Conduct daily briefing and duties assignment of engineering associates to carry out the necessary building operation and engineering works.

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in the preparation and submission of reports as required by Hotel and/or Regulatory requirements such as BESS, Water Efficiency Report, etc.

  • Assist the Chief Engineer in ensuring the timely renewal of term contracts, permits and/or licences in advance of expiry.
