Job description

Main Duties and Responsibilities

We are seeking experienced and highly technically proficient individuals to join us as Duty Engineers. Joining as part of the Mandai Rainforest Resort by Banyan Tree team, our Duty Engineers will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operations and maintenance of the Resort’s facilities, including all technical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Duty Engineer will conduct regular inspections of the Resort to determine maintenance requirements, upgrades and improvements. In performing this role, the incumbent will be responsible for reporting any incidents to the Assistant Chief Engineer.
  • Resolve any maintenance matters reported by guests or staff. This includes coordinating with the Front Office and Housekeeping with regards to specific maintenance activities and ensuring that any identified matters are resolved in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all rules and regulations regarding safe working practices are complied with.
  • The Duty Engineer will also conduct the needed preventive maintenance activities when required. This includes liaising with the Assistant Chief Engineer to ensure the necessary inventory, spare parts and other equipment are readily available.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma, Higher NITEC, NITEC in Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing or an equivalent professional certificate.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar capacity, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Able to work and coordinate with contractors in all work-related activities.
  • Able to commit to after office hours duties when required and/or shift work.
