Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed drawings, layouts, and construction documentation using AutoCAD, Revit, or other design software.
• Work from rough sketches, specifications, and verbal instructions from architects, engineers, or project managers.
• Ensure drawings are in compliance with local building codes, zoning laws, and regulations.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to incorporate design changes and resolve discrepancies.
• Revise drawings as necessary based on client feedback, engineering input, or site constraints.
• Maintain version control of all project drawings and documentation.
• Assist in compiling documentation for planning approvals and permits.
• Participate in design team meetings and site visits as required.

Education

• Diploma or Certificate in Drafting, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering (preferred but not always required).

Experience

• 1–3+ years of drafting experience in a construction, architectural, or engineering firm.
• Experience with commercial or residential projects is an asset.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar).
• Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
• Experience with 3D modeling (optional but desirable).
• Familiarity with BIM processes is a plus.
