Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Master)
- Responsible for effective implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the HSSEQ Management System onboard vessels and in the office.
- Ensure alignment with applicable international standards (ISM, ISPS, MLC, ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and company policies.
- Manage documentation, revisions, and distribution of HSSEQ-related manuals, circulars, and policies across digital platforms.
- Lead the development and execution of safety campaigns and HSE awareness programs across the fleet.
- Identify trends through analysis of inspection and incident data; implement corrective and preventive measures
- Organize and participate in internal and external audits, including SMC, DOC, ISM, ISPS, MLC, and ISO certifications.
- Lead investigation and root cause analysis of incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
- Maintain emergency contact lists and lead in crisis management exercises and contingency planning.
- Conduct and review risk assessments; implement and document risk mitigation actions onboard and ashore.
- Review, maintain, and align the company’s systems and processes with the Tanker Management and Self-Assessment (TMSA) framework.
- Develop, implement, and monitor action plans based on assessment outcomes and industry best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nautical Science
- Master’s degree in Maritime Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or Business Administration (MBA) would be advantageous
- Class 1 Certificate of Competency (Master).
- Minimum 5 years in a similar role, ideally with seagoing experience as Captain on tankers or Chief Engineer.
- Proven ability to work independently and lead in high-demand environments.
- Extensive experience in developing, managing, and auditing HSSEQ systems in and ship management or ownership setup.
- In-depth understanding of quality assurance, occupational health and safety, environmental compliance, and maritime security management.
- Skilled in documentation, reporting, and implementation of HSSEQ systems.
- Effective in managing and mentoring teams; experienced in working with third-party contractors.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
