Job summary

Citi in Singapore seeks a Director, Senior Equity Advisor to cover private client activity in equity cash and structured products. You will join the Capital Markets Group, delivering investment ideas and bespoke portfolio advice to Citi Private Bank clients, while actively developing a dedicated client base of long-term accounts.

The role requires extensive equities experience, strong communication, and the ability to work with cross-border teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/University degree; CFA is a plus.
• 15+ years of experience in equity sales/trading.
• Extensive sales and trading experience in equities; familiarity with equity derivatives.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to interact with internal staff and external clients.
• Fluent spoken and written English; Mandarin is a plus; licensed as required.

Responsibilities

• Cover direct client activity in equity cash and structured products within the Capital Markets Group.
• Deliver ideas and investment recommendations to Citi Private Bank clients and execute allocations.
• Develop a dedicated client base of long-term accounts to meet revenue and service objectives.
• Present investment proposals and new account pitches to clients as part of the client team.
• Host client events and roadshows to strengthen Citi brand and relationships.

The Equity Principal is a strategic professional who closely follows latest trends in own field and adapts them for application within own job and the business. Recognized subject matter expert within one area. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Is an acknowledged authority both within and outside area of expertise. Typically, a small number of people within the business that provide the same level of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication is typically required. Provides advanced judgment and conducts in-depth quantitative or qualitative analysis to solve problems and develop new, innovative solutions. Required to think beyond existing solutions, assumptions, or current knowledge of sophisticated areas. Significant impact on a function and/or the business through making decisions that determine technical approaches and strategies for the area.

In this role, you’re expected to:

• This role is based within the Capital Markets Group, covering direct client activity in equity cash and structured products. This position will be as a member of the team involved in covering private clients directly
• Part of the integrated client team, delivering ideas and investment recommendations as well as providing high quality tactical and portfolio allocation advice and execution to Citi Private Bank equity trading clients directly and indirectly
• Actively develop a dedicated client base of between 20-30 long term accounts in order to achieve business revenue and service objectives. Identify client needs and objectives within overall investment objectives and match to service delivery capabilities
• Communicate/deliver/close on client investment proposals and new account pitches as part of the overall client team
• Contributes scalable ideas that generates commercial value across the platform, including through cash and derivative, and present these ideas in internal forums
• Host client events, virtual roadshows and large-format outlook events to strengthen the Citi brand and deepen client relationships
• Maintain rigorous risk management approach with clients on their exposures in line with client risk tolerances
• Ensure conformity with global Firm standards of client service, regulatory, compliance, and operating model
• Increase connectivity and engagement between Markets, Research and Citi Private Bank clients and staff
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

• Bachelor's/University degree, CFA is a plus
• 15+ years of experience
• Extensive/proven sales and trading experience in equities and ideally structured products, including Equity derivatives and light exotic products / Excellent interpersonal skills to deal with both internal staff and external clients / Self motivated
• Good interpersonal and communication skills essential / Strong IT skills essential / Ability to develop strong working relationships across functional and geographical lines / Ability to work to tight deadlines / Fluent spoken and written English
• Fluent Mandarin is a plus
• Regulated role with applicable/mandatory licenses and/or qualifications
• Mandatory certifications as required for advising on and selling financial products
