Job description

The Director of ICT is responsible for all aspects of ICT in the school and leads the development and implementation of the school’s ICT strategy. This includes managing ICT systems, infrastructure and support as well as the use of ICT in teaching & learning. The role involves:

Leading the School’s Digital Strategy:
  1. Devising, evaluating, refining, and implementing the school’s digital strategy in conjunction with the school’s Senior Team.
  2. Promoting effective use of all adopted systems (including Google Workspace [G-Suite], ISAMS, Firefly, Managebac, etc) throughout the school.
  3. Supporting and directing systems administrators and managers (e.g., ISAMS Manager, Managebac Administrator).
  4. Evaluating and approving resource purchases aligned with school policy and strategy.
  5. Identifying staff development needs, highlighting best practices, and promoting ‘digital champions’.
  6. Collaborating with Heads of Department and Curriculum Coordinators to ensure effective technology integration aligned with strategic aims.
  7. Overseeing development and review of the IT strategy policy.
  8. Implementing frameworks for school-wide assessment of digital strategy (e.g., NAACE/ISTE).
  9. Leading a school-wide digital strategy working party to evaluate and enhance education technology use.
  10. Facilitating regular meetings with staff to implement digital strategy findings.
  11. Identifying emerging technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and assessment.
  12. Communicating ICT strategy and its aims effectively to staff.
  13. Working with the Designated Safeguarding Lead(s) to develop and implement e-safety strategies.
Supervising the ICT Department:

Supporting the ICT Manager and department in key areas, including:

  • Ensuring appraisal procedures are followed.
  • Identifying and recommending professional development.
  • Maintaining excellent communication between the department and staff.
  • Managing operational and educational systems effectively.
  • Supporting website development.
  • Managing student and staff email accounts.
  • Ensuring network infrastructure, servers, and workstations operate efficiently.
  • Implementing backup protocols and maintenance programs.
  • Overseeing hardware management, including creating and maintaining an asset management system, configuring servers, storage, and devices.
  • Managing software systems, including MIS, reporting, licensing, and maintenance.
  • Ensuring compliance with data protection regulations and developing security solutions.
Enrichment and Crisis Management:

Providing technical support for events, overseeing network and system operations, and ensuring policies on child protection, health, safety, and data security are followed.

Budgeting and Additional Responsibilities:

Planning and managing the ICT budget, guiding procurement, and professional development planning. Staying current with technological developments and contributing to reports and system management routines. Additionally, contributing to induction, parental sessions, and safeguarding policies.
