Director, Development

Job Description
The successful candidate will tackle the primary outcomes set out below. They will need to be able to work effectively with the Senior Team (in Asia and UK) to drive successful strategies, and create an ambitious growth plan with full buy in from all stakeholders within the business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver Asia’s growth strategy through robust M&A and greenfield business plans
• Develop relationships with all key advisors, business owners and majority shareholders
• Lead and execute market entry to new countries including initial market research, assessment and securing main board commitment
• Deliver timely and informative reporting in specified group format to meet group reporting cycles, investment committee approvals and ad hoc reporting as required
• Directly manage key strategic transactions and provide oversight on transactions
• Identify targets, initiate contact and deliver successful transactions in line with investment return hurdles
• Review the transaction on completion to ensure a continuous learning environment
• Ensure robust compliance with group policies and standards for M&A activity
• Greenfields – map territory opportunities to meet organic growth and continuity needs by sourcing and executing new sites with respective COOs
• Portfolio management – strategies with respective COOs and lead portfolio refinement in stretching existing opportunities and tail management

Job Requirements:

Education and Qualifications

• Educated to degree / MBA standard and hold a business or equivalent professional qualification

Transaction Experience

• Demonstrable experience in M&A including sourcing, negotiating and executing transactions

Regional Exposure

• Experience with regional markets, M&A and the cultural differences in developing relationships and executing transactions

Legal Skillset

• Legal literacy, ability to manage an SPA process and liaise with internal and external counsel

Business Acumen

• Read opportunities well and is commercially savvy to devise winning strategies
