Director / Deputy Director, Trade Documentation
Role Overview
The Director / Deputy Director, Trade Documentation, leads the Chamber’s Trade Documentation operations and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. This is a leadership role and upholds the Chamber’s mission as a trusted centre for Trade Documentation Services, ensures regulatory compliance, drives service excellence, manages key relationships, and contributes to membership engagement and retention.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Documentation & Regulatory Compliance
Lead and oversee the full suite of Trade Documentation Services, including the issuance and endorsement of Certificates of Origin (CO), other trade/shipping, and non-standard trade documents, including ATA and TDB-BOFT Carnets.
Maintain consistent compliance with all applicable regulatory policies and guidelines governing Trade Documentation Services.
Systems Development and Project Management
Lead the development and enhancement of CO and Carnet systems. Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors on technical and operational project requirements. Proactively explore and evaluate emerging technologies to enhance efficiency and future-proof the Chamber’s Trade Documentation Services.
Stakeholder Engagement
Proactively engage with users of Trade Documentation Services to raise awareness of the Chamber’s offerings, enhance client experience, and drive membership growth and retention.
Government and Authority Liaison
Serve as the Chamber’s key liaison with government authorities on trade regulations, documentation, and facilitation matters. Maintain strong and effective relationships with regulatory bodies.
Document Verification and Records Management
Handle queries and verification requests regarding the authenticity of trade documents issued by the Chamber. Oversee proper document retention and the secure warehousing and destruction of confidential documents.
Training and Development
Conduct CO and Carnet presentations and training programmes. Maintain a systematic training and orientation programme for trade documentation staff and ensure high standards of performance.
Qualifications and Attributes
At least 9 years of relevant experience with 4 years in leadership or team managementrole
Strong expertise in trade documentation, certification, and regulatory compliance
Proven leadership in project management and in developing high-performing teams
Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality
