Role Description

The Director of Business Development for ANZ, reporting to the Managing Director International and Chief Revenue Officer, is responsible for building internal and external relationships with key stakeholders to achieve strategic growth and profitability goals. This role involves leading sales and client relationship management, exploring new markets and trends, recommending new services and products, developing strategic partnerships, writing proposals, and guiding long-term business strategies. Based in Sydney, the Director will collaborate across multiple teams and lead strategic business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive revenue growth by identifying and developing new opportunities, expanding the company's presence and brand. KPIs and targets will be set collaboratively.
  2. Increase sales funnel size and value, maintaining alignment with the company's growth trajectory.
  3. Design and execute regional sales strategies targeting new market segments to enhance revenue and EBITDA.
  4. Monitor emerging markets and trends; recommend new services, products, and strategic partnerships.
  5. Build and maintain a strong pipeline through networking, industry events, and outbound initiatives.
  6. Collaborate with marketing to create effective lead generation campaigns.
  7. Engage with potential clients to understand needs and craft tailored solutions.
  8. Lead negotiations, close deals, and nurture stakeholder relationships for sustained growth.
  9. Work with leadership and internal teams to ensure offerings evolve to meet client needs.
  10. Stay informed on market and competitor movements to adjust strategies accordingly.
  11. Respond promptly to inbound leads with professional, consultative feedback.
  12. Provide weekly performance reports, highlighting pipeline management, strategic actions, and data-driven decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
  1. Proven experience in IT and professional services sales, especially within Energy, Commodities, and Finance sectors.
  2. Experience selling IT and professional services to supply and trading operations in these sectors is highly desirable.
  3. Successful track record of developing and closing new business through various channels.
  4. Industry connections within Energy, Commodities, and Finance to facilitate client access.
  5. Experience leading RFP processes and managing new business strategies is advantageous.
  6. Extensive experience working with senior stakeholders and building long-term relationships.
  7. Ability to act as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams.
  8. Data-driven sales approach involving research and business intelligence.
  9. Strategic, consultative mindset with a curiosity for innovation and new solutions.
