Job summary

The National University of Singapore seeks a globally recognized scientific leader to serve as Director of the Advanced Electron Microscopy Facility, a flagship university-level platform integrating state-of-the-art capabilities across materials science and life sciences.

The Director will shape the facility into a world-leading centre for atomic-scale imaging and analysis, driving frontier research and national capabilities.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a major research facility or core facility within a university or research institution.
• Proven track record of publications and leadership in electron microscopy or related fields.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to manage diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the facility as a hub for international collaborations and flagship programs.
• Set medium- and long-term research directions aligned with facility strengths.
• Lead large, multi-year research programmes by coordinating stakeholders and scientific directions.
• Set targets and user satisfaction measures.
• Develop the facility roadmap for upgrades, new platforms, and capacity planning.
• Develop cost-recovery models and manage budgets and procurement.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety requirements and all policies.
• Implement good data management practices.
