Job description

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Lead to lead DevOps engineering and operations activities, enabling effective collaboration across development, testing and IT operations teams. The role will be responsible for designing and managing DevOps frameworks, automating CI/CD processes, supporting application delivery, and improving the reliability and efficiency of technology platforms.

The successful candidate will have strong experience in DevOps, CI/CD, automation, infrastructure management and technical support, together with the ability to lead and develop a technical team.

Key Responsibilities

DevOps Engineering & Technical Delivery

• Lead the design, implementation and continuous improvement of DevOps architecture and frameworks for projects and application environments.

• Design and manage Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) processes to support efficient and reliable software delivery.

• Evaluate and implement appropriate DevOps tools and platforms based on project and technical requirements.

• Develop and maintain deployment models and environments for application validation, testing, monitoring and release.

• Manage and maintain IT infrastructure required to support application development and deployment.

• Manage the end-to-end DevOps pipeline across planning, coding, building, testing, staging, release, configuration and monitoring.

• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling to integrate applications with operating systems, infrastructure and production environments.

• Support application onboarding and configuration from development through to production release.

• Implement security controls and practices throughout the DevOps lifecycle to support system security, data protection and compliance requirements.

• Identify opportunities to improve automation, system reliability, deployment efficiency and operational processes.

Technical Support & Service Management

• Provide technical support for DevOps tools, platforms and environments to internal and external stakeholders.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arising from the implementation and operation of DevOps tools and platforms.

• Perform root cause analysis for major incidents and critical technical issues affecting service delivery, project timelines, quality or cost.

• Develop and implement appropriate remediation and alternative solutions based on root cause analysis.

• Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues through the appropriate support and escalation processes.

• Provide technical guidance, knowledge sharing and best-practice recommendations to team members and stakeholders.

Team Leadership & Development

• Lead and manage the DevOps team to ensure effective delivery of technical and operational objectives.

• Plan team resources based on current and future project and business requirements.

• Support recruitment and selection of suitable technical resources based on role requirements and competency needs.

• Provide onboarding, technical training, coaching and knowledge-sharing opportunities for team members.

• Set clear objectives and performance expectations for team members and conduct regular performance reviews.

• Identify skills gaps and develop appropriate training and capability-building initiatives.

• Support career development and succession planning within the team.

• Promote a collaborative and inclusive working environment.

• Monitor team performance, workload and engagement, and implement appropriate improvement initiatives.

Performance will be assessed based on relevant business and operational objectives, which may include:

• CI/CD & DevOps Delivery: Effective implementation and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines, automation and application deployment processes.

• Service Quality: Timely resolution of technical issues, effective incident management and stakeholder satisfaction.

• Platform Reliability: Availability, stability, security and performance of supported DevOps platforms and environments.

• Process Improvement: Improvements in automation, deployment efficiency, operational processes and technology adoption.

• Team Capability: Development of technical capabilities, knowledge sharing, training and overall team performance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience in DevOps, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, software delivery or a related technical field.

• Strong hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines and automation.

• Experience with DevOps tools and platforms such as source control, build, deployment, testing, configuration management and monitoring tools.

• Experience with scripting and automation using relevant programming or scripting languages.

• Good understanding of cloud infrastructure, operating systems, networking and application deployment concepts.

• Experience in troubleshooting, incident management and root cause analysis.

• Understanding of security practices across the software development and deployment lifecycle.

• Experience leading or mentoring a technical team is preferred.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work effectively with development, testing, infrastructure and operations teams.
