Job description

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Product Design and Development
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and improve products, offering technical input to ensure functionality, manufacturability, performance, and cost-efficiency.

2. Complex CAD Modelling and Design Reviews
Create and review detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for complex components and assemblies. Provide constructive feedback to peers and assist in resolving design challenges.

3. Prototype Coordination and Testing Support
Coordinate prototype development by working with vendors and internal teams. Participate in test planning, data analysis, and design iteration based on test outcomes.

4. Material and Component Evaluation
Support the selection and evaluation of materials and components, considering performance, cost, and compatibility with production processes. Provide recommendations based on experience and data.

5. Project Management and Execution Support
Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing engineering project activities across various phases—from design to delivery. Support project scheduling, resource tracking, and risk management. Ensure timely communication of project status, technical issues, and dependencies to stakeholders. Collaborate with project managers to align technical deliverables with customer expectations, cost targets, and timelines.

6. Support Quality and Compliance Activities
Work closely with team to ensure designs meet internal standards and external compliance requirements. Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality issues.

7. Cost Awareness and Design Efficiency
Contribute to cost reduction efforts by identifying opportunities for design simplification, part standardization, and improved manufacturability during the design phase.

8. Technical Documentation and Reporting
Prepare and maintain accurate engineering documentation such as technical specifications, drawings, BOMs, test reports, and design justifications. Ensure documentation is up to date and aligned with project milestones.

9. Effective Cross-Team Collaboration
Collaborate actively with project managers, design & project engineers, procurement teams, and suppliers to ensure smooth product development and transition to production.

10. Knowledge Sharing and Peer Support
Share technical knowledge and insights with peers and junior engineers. Contribute to design reviews and project discussions to help improve team outcomes.

11. Continuous Improvement and Initiative
Take initiative in improving design processes, tools, or methods. Stay updated with industry trends, software upgrades, and new materials relevant to the product domain.

12. Standardization Effort
Support and reinforce the standardization effort of engineering documentation actively with teams. Ensure consistency, completeness, and compliance in technical documentation, and collaborate with peers to adopt best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in engineering management working directly with project engineering teams dealing with process and cleaning equipment and railway depot equipment in manufacturing industry.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
