Job description

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Design Manager to lead the design and construction integration of major land reclamation projects both locally and overseas. The successful candidate will oversee all technical design activities from concept to execution, ensuring that all designs are safe, cost-effective, environmentally compliant, and aligned with overall project goals. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams including civil, geotechnical, marine, and environmental engineers, while coordinating with external stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and contractors..

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of construction and design work schedules in accordance with both master and detailed work programmes.
  • Manage all design deliverables across the project lifecycle, from concept development to IFC (Issued for Construction) documentation.
  • Ensure the integration of Design for Safety (DfS) principles throughout design stages, in coordination with consultants, contractors, and safety personnel.
  • Conduct or facilitate design risk assessments, hazard analysis, and safety-in-design reviews.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve technical design issues, manage variations, and ensure compliance with contractual and statutory requirements.
  • Act as a key liaison with local authorities, consultants, and certifying bodies for permits, design approvals, and technical submissions.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company QHSE standards and relevant regulatory frameworks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in marine engineering, dredging, or reclamation projects.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale marine construction projects.
  • Experience with hydraulic, geotechnical, and structural design for marine environments.
  • Proficient in managing design documentation, drawings, technical reports, and interfacing with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Willing to travel overseas
