Job description

To manage design consultants on design, drawings, and deliverables in order to ensure adherence to the construction program.

  • Development of a functional design brief.
  • Prepare and implement design monitoring procedures to ensure the consultants are working to plan.
  • Prepare and implement drawing and document control for temporary works within design department.
  • Attend and contribute to design coordination meetings with consultants.
  • Coordinate the input of specialist consultants as and when required.
  • Coordinate authority approval.

To manage and coordinate information on design changes and to respond to design changes with the site team, in order to achieve the construction program.

  • Resolve or clarify and effectively coordinate any change of design.

To manage competency and efficiency of design in order to control cost and improve profit margins.

  • Coordinate the development of a design program to meet the requirements of the procurement and construction program.
  • Arrange for approval of works' materials by appropriate design consultant.
  • Liaise with the in-house planning section regarding monitoring the progress of design related to the contract program.

To liaise with the site team and draftsperson on information in order to produce As-Built drawings.

  • Ensure that information given by the site team is sufficient and tally with the works completed on site before preparing As-Built drawings.

To manage the Temp and Permanent Works design and to consider safety aspects.

  • Demonstrate ability in the necessary aspects of safety and risk management.
  • Apply the appropriate level of mindfulness for safety in design.

To oversee consultants on agreed quality assurance to ensure the design(s) meet relevant codes and good engineering practice.

  • Manage 'Value Engineering' procedures and reviews.
  • Participate in value engineering in accordance with project procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience.
