Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare piping material specifications, MTO, and end connection fitting details for BWTS and Scrubber systems.
- Perform detail engineering and design of new piping installations onboard ships.
- Generate detailed piping drawings for submission to Classification Society for approval and onboard installation.
- Assist in laser scanning onboard and verify retrofit conditions of BWTS and Scrubber systems.
- Evaluate structural analysis, loading calculations, and pressure drop/friction loss calculations.
- Respond to Classification comments to expedite design approval.
- Prepare piping and pump specifications, including piping arrangements and support standards.
- Develop preliminary equipment layouts in engine rooms, pumps, and auxiliary spaces.
- Review scope of work, project schedules, and client specifications.
- Prepare piping information lists, layouts, and documentation following standard procedures.
- Provide field engineering support during piping installation and testing onboard.
- Support technical documentation and customer communications.
- Coordinate with design subcontractors and update project teams and sales on progress and quotes.
- Communicate with clients, principals, and internal departments to ensure project completion and customer satisfaction.
- Perform project/document control and other tasks as assigned by management.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in designing and engineering piping systems, especially onboard piping for BWTS or similar systems.
- Proficiency in piping design calculations like pipe sizing, wall thickness, and pressure drops.
- Experience preparing P&ID diagrams for marine piping systems.
- Ability to review and update piping layouts and drawings.
- Familiarity with international standards such as ASME, API, DNVGL, ABS, LR, CCS, BV, NK.
Qualifications and Skills
- Degree/Diploma in Marine Offshore Engineering or related field from a recognized institute.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in marine piping and mechanical design.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, 2D/3D design tools like AutoCAD, Cadmatic, and Point Cloud software.
- Knowledge of classification rules, statutory regulations, and marine safety standards.
- Understanding of basic piping design principles for Marine & Offshore.
- Strong project management skills.
- Knowledge of classification societies such as DNVGL, ABS, LR, CCS, BV, NK.
