Job summary

JDL Recruitment partners with a fast-growing AI infrastructure business to lead data centre design across Asia Pacific. The Data Centre Design Lead will own concept-to-completion design for new builds and expansions, coordinating with IT, electrical, mechanical and architectural disciplines.

Based in Singapore, Australia or Malaysia, you must travel frequently and deliver high-density facilities using air and liquid cooling, while aligning with regional regulations and Uptime Institute standards

Qualifications

• At least 12 years' data centre design experience across electrical, mechanical and architectural disciplines.
• Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or related discipline.
• Proven delivery of high-density facilities using both air and liquid cooling.
• Experience leading design teams and managing external consultants.
• Based in Singapore, Australia or Malaysia, with the ability to travel frequently across Asia Pacific.
• Preferred: experience with hyperscale or AI cloud operators and knowledge of approval processes across multiple Asia Pacific markets.

Responsibilities

• Own design delivery from concept to completion for new data centre builds and expansions across Asia Pacific.
• Convert IT, hardware and operational requirements into design criteria for power, cooling, connectivity and space planning.
• Set high-density rack power and UPS requirements and select cooling approaches, including air, direct liquid and immersion.
• Develop modular, phased designs that allow GPU capacity to be added quickly and incrementally.
• Direct MEP engineers and external consultants to deliver complete, coordinated design packages.
• Ensure compliance with Uptime Institute Tier requirements and local regulations across the region.
• Lead design verification through commissioning and handover to operations.
• Create design standards and reference designs, and track PUE, WUE and reliability to drive improvement.
