Job summary

CNA Digital, a unit of Mediacorp Pte Ltd, seeks a deputy editor to lead its daily commentary offerings, collaborating with editors and commentators to deliver incisive content for an international audience.

You will conceptualise timely commentaries, manage diverse contributors, and edit daily pieces, occasionally writing yourself, while using data analytics to shape and amplify CNA's multi-platform coverage.

Qualifications

• At least 4 years of working experience in journalism, public policy or academia.
• Broad understanding of global and local issues across business, geopolitics, sociocultural and public policy topics.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced newsroom and ability to identify important conversations after breaking news.
• Excellent writing skills with strong editing ability; video journalism is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively with high-profile external contributors and CNA Digital teams.
• Wide professional network to draw on for commentary contributors.
• Willingness to work as editorial priorities require; occasional non-standard hours.
• Strong interpersonal and organisational skills, time management and attention to detail.

• Drive amplification across multi-media formats and platforms, using data analytics to help shape and improve offerings.
• Keep a finger on the pulse of which issues matter to CNA's audience, through attention to data analytics and social listening.

You Will Be Expected To

• Be comfortable working in a fast-paced newsroom and have a knack for identifying important conversations and questions emerging from breaking news.
• Excellent writing skills with strong editing ability to identify shortcomings in argument, language, style and flow. Experience with video journalism is a plus.
• Be able to work collaboratively with high-profile external contributors and the CNA Digital news teams.
• A wide professional network to draw on for a broader range of commentary contributors.
• A willingness to work as needed by editorial priorities. While this role generally follows office hours, the nature of news may mean exceptions to ensure timely output.
