Job Scope

The Deputy Director/Senior Assistant Director, Tech-Biz Development Officer ("TBO") is responsible for supporting A*STAR Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) as the Strategic Innovation Engine of Singapore by translating our intellectual properties to commercial solutions through industry research collaborations, licensing and spin-off efforts to drive economic and social outcomes for Singapore. The TBO shall promote the capabilities of I2R to companies across the Semiconductor and Advanced Manufacturing sectors (Manufacturing, Trade and Connectivity Cluster- "MTC") with AI, Communication and CyberSecurity Technologies and Systems by identifying gaps and developing opportunities for I2R's ICT related solutions to facilitate the initiation of R&D collaborations with external organisations. Overall, the TBO plays a pivotal role in driving innovation and collaboration at I2R, ultimately contributing to the development and deployment of impactful ICT solutions through our collaboration partners.

Responsibilities:

    Engage companies in the MTC cluster and Singapore Public Agencies through articulation of key I2R capabilities and identify as many potential projects as possible for I2R's Departments, Divisions, Programmes & Centres (DDPCs) to evaluate capability in taking up these projects
    Conduct market research and competitive analysis to develop strategic plans in key areas of importance for I2R to acquire/grow strategic partnerships with industry partners, Singapore Public Agencies and A*STAR Research Entities
    Supervise and mentor team members, providing guidance and support
    TBO to work collaboratively with DDPCs to identify problem statements, market gaps, and funding opportunities, preparing internal approval documents for I2R's Senior Management to evaluate capability of taking up the programme/project
    Structure and secure research collaboration, service agreements and licensing deals
    Discuss programme/project contributions, NIPPS outcomes and negotiates IP ownership and rights with collaborator
    Keep current with A*STAR/I2R intellectual properties, new scientific concepts, emerging technologies, key trends, and their potential real-world applications and commercialisation pathways
    Understand basic contractual terms and be familiar with key contractual terms
    Record and document industry engagements and collaborations in a timely manner and in accordance with A*STAR/I2R policies
    Prepare and present high-quality marketing materials and reports working with the team, and communicate effectively with a diverse audience

Requirements:

    8-10 years of relevant working experience, preferably with a background in the Semiconductor and Advanced Manufacturing sectors
    Good interpersonal skills to liaise and work with diverse internal and external stakeholders
    Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
    Willing to learn, adaptable and flexible
    Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
    Able to work independently and in a team to complete tasks with minimal supervision
